| CV | Janet was born and brought up on the cliffs of West Cornwall. After an MA at Somerville College, Oxford, she travelled the world with her family in the oil business, painting, studying and exhibiting in many countries. Returning to England in the Eighties, she had several solo shows and exhibited with various groups. In 2005 she was elected Associate of the Royal Watercolour Society and regularly exhibits with the RWS, the Chelsea Art Society and the Society of Russian Watercolour Painters in St Petersburg. In that year she had a solo show on the theme of the Romanesque arch, presented by Benjamin Hargreaves at the Piers Feetham Gallery, London. Her paintings of “Russia’s Hero Cities” were shown at the Russian Embassy in May and in St Petersburg in October. In January 2007 she was painting in India with some other members of the RWS, followed by exhibitions in Mumbai and at the Bankside Gallery, London. Amongst other recent solo shows, her paintings of Cornwall were at the Square One Gallery, London, in May, and again in Penzance in July. Her paintings on the theme of the great Russian poet Anna Akhmatova were shown at Pushkin House, Bloomsbury, in December. Her work from Cornwall is at the Piers Feetham Gallery, 475 Fulham Road, 15th May – 7th June 2008. She is currently Vice-President of the RWS. |
