Michael Richardson
CV

Born -1943 - Brought up and educated in Ipswich, Michael attended the Ipswich School of Art studying Sculpture and Fine Art. He continued his studies painting in Paris before embarking on a career in the marine industry. Since making painting his full time occupation in the 1990's he has had several successful one man shows and been elected to the Wapping Group of Artists and the Chelsea Art Society. Michael's work has also been exhibited in the RSMA , RBA and RI in the Mall Galleries and at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. He has travelled extensively, painting and sailing, in Europe, the Caribbean, USA Hawaii, New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia. He now lives in East Kent and paints almost every day, whatever the weather en plein air.” He believes that painting “sur le motif” as a modern impressionist is the most fulfilling challenge for a painter’s technique and he never risks tinkering with a piece later for fear of losing the spontaneity of the on-site response. Painting in the rain and or snow holds a particular fascination for him offering a year long painting season and his constant production is a mirror of all aspects of the changing moods and colours of our environment.
