In 1973 Ann gained BA Hons from Maidstone College of Art and after teaching Art in Leeds she became a storyboard artist in the West End of London. From 1985 Ann became a full time portrait painter, then by 2000 had diversified into other areas of painting, exhibiting regularly. Her work has been shown at galleries in Wimbledon, Clapham, Seaview Isle of Wight, the Affordable art Fair and at charity shows at the Mall Gallery, and the Royal College of Art.

Ann uses her own photographs as part of her reference but retains an ambiguity in her work, her figures are gestural. Subject matter is varied and includes beaches and crabbing, wet London streets,The Thames and its bridges, aerial views of shoppers, office workers, parties and cafes. Night time paintings include lit up shops all in strong chiaruscuro.
